Co-sleeper Cots from Mothercare

Kat writes…

There is much to be said for sharing the bed with your baby and I would recommend it to anyone who likes the idea. We shared our bed for a little over a year and there were certain downsides with three in a standard double… Mothercare have two great bedside cots which should provide extra space and some reassurance that no-one’s going to fall out.

The Cosatto Close to Me Bedside Cot is pretty standard as cots go. It has a four position mattress height, beech finish, teething rails and slatted sides. The difference is one side comes off and stows underneath the cot (great shelf for long term co-sleeping use). If you are using the cot for daytime naps as well the side slots back into place easily. This is a web exclusive and is on offer for £199.99. I can’t find any online reviews of this cot so if you know anything about it use the contact page to get in touch.

The second is the Bedside Cot which again has all the standard features. It has an eight position mattress height which should give greater flexibility when matching to your bed height. The side clips on and off for cot or bedside use. It is also on lockable castors which means moving it from room to room or even out from the bed will not be a drag. It has great reviews on the Mothercare site which gives it a 4.5/5 star rating. Currently there is low stock but you can pre-order it for December delivery. £180.

Both of the cots are standard cot size and require a 120 x 60 cm mattress (sold separately). For my money I would go with the bedside cot as it has a softer look and greater adjustability. The wheels are the real clincher for me, if you’re using it at night and during the day you’ll need to be able to move it easily - no point in having an easy clip side if it’s a hassle pulling it about!
